June is Men’s National Health Month.

Emotional awareness is the ability to identify, understand, and manage one’s own emotions. It is an important skill for men’s health because it can help men to cope with stress, manage anger, and build healthy relationships.

There are many benefits to emotional awareness for men’s health. Emotionally aware men are more likely to:

  • Have better physical health
  • Be less likely to engage in risky behaviors
  • Have stronger relationships
  • Be more successful at work

There are many ways to improve emotional awareness. Some helpful strategies include:

  • Mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. It can be helpful for men to learn how to be mindful of their emotions, including both positive and negative ones.
  • Journaling: Journaling can be a helpful way to track and reflect on one’s emotions. It can also be a way to process difficult emotions in a safe and private space.
  • Therapy: Therapy can be a helpful way to learn how to manage emotions and build healthy relationships.

If you are a man who is interested in improving your emotional awareness, there are many resources available to you on this site that include a free course and reference material.   There are also books and recently a wellness journal you can purchase on Amazon at the links below.
