July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. We strongly believe emotional awareness needs to be significantly increased which is often not intentional in supporting minority groups. As Emotional Awareness Advocates we provide resources and workshops to further develop your emotional awareness by taking an ARMS approach. In addition, as allies we provide opportunities to create and maintain a support system for ourselves and others. You can purchase our book, Consciousness is Under the Rubble” and the journal to support the journey.
During the month of July we encourage you to take a moment to focus on this issue by completing some or all of the following:
-
Learn about the mental health challenges faced by minority groups.
-
Talk to your friends and family about mental health.
-
Support organizations that provide mental health services to minority groups.
-
Advocate for policies that support mental health care for all.
-
Challenge stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness.
-
Promote self-care and resilience among minority communities.
-
Be a mental health ally.
